Introduction to Surah An-Naba
Surah An-Naba is the 78th chapter of the Holy Quran and the opening Surah of Juz 30 (Juz Amma). It contains 40 verses and was revealed in Makkah. The name "An-Naba" means "The Great News" or "The Tidings," referring to the momentous news of the Day of Resurrection about which the disbelievers disagreed.
This Surah marks the beginning of the final Juz of the Quran, which contains the most commonly memorized short Surahs. Surah Naba serves as a powerful gateway that establishes the three foundational themes revisited throughout Juz Amma: Allah's creative power, the certainty of Resurrection, and the consequences of belief and disbelief.

Key Themes & Lessons
1. The Certainty of Resurrection
The Surah opens by confronting the disbelievers' skepticism about the Day of Judgment. Through a series of rhetorical questions, Allah presents evidence from the natural world — the earth, mountains, day and night, rain, and vegetation — as undeniable proof that the One who created these wonders can certainly resurrect the dead.
2. The Day of Sorting
Verses 17-30 describe the Day of Judgment as "Yawm al-Fasl" (the Day of Sorting), when the Trumpet will be blown, the sky will open like gates, and people will come forth in groups. The transgressors will face a blazing prison, while the righteous will enjoy gardens, grapevines, companions, and overflowing cups of pure drink.
3. The Wish to Be Dust
The Surah concludes with one of the most haunting verses in the Quran: "The Day when a person will observe what his hands have put forth and the disbeliever will say, 'Oh, I wish that I were dust!'" (78:40) — a cry of ultimate regret from those who rejected faith.
